To leave a legacy is to reveal our hearts. Through our final message, we share with the world the faith and values that brought us new life, and with gratitude we hand them on to others. It is one of the most intimate gifts we will ever give, and the Diocese of Orlando is committed to honoring the wishes of those who make such a commitment.
Should you decide to remember the Church in your will or other estate plans, you have the flexibility to determine which ministries will receive your gift and for what purpose. First and foremost we encourage you to provide for your family and your parish. We hope you will then choose to include a gift that benefits one of our diocesan ministries.
The following language is suggested for making a gift through your will, but you may adapt this language for other types of planned gifts, such as a life insurance policy or charitable gift annuity.
"I hereby give, devise and bequeath to John Noonan, as Bishop of the Diocese of Orlando, Florida, his successors in office and assigns, a corporation sole, the following: (dollar amount, percentage, or remainder) for the use and benefit of (here list one or more of the ministries and/or endowment funds listed below)."
Ministries to Support
A Catholic parish
After providing for your loved ones, we hope your first thought will be of your parish – your spiritual family. You can even designate your gift for a specific purpose, such as the Youth Ministry or parish food bank, by adding the following sentence to the bequest language: “I request that my gift be used for (specific purpose, ministry or fund).”
A Catholic school
By including a Catholic school in your will, you can provide enduring support for a ministry that the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, calls an “apostolate of Hope.” You can even designate your gift for a specific purpose, such as the school library or tuition assistance, by adding the following sentence to the bequest language: “I request that my gift be used for (specific purpose, ministry or fund).”

Unrestricted Gifts for Urgent Needs

Such gifts are especially generous and faithful because they enable our Bishop to strengthen those ministries that are most in need of support. Should you wish to make an unrestricted gift, please use the suggested language below.
I hereby give, devise and bequeath to John Noonan, as Bishop of the Diocese of Orlando, Florida, his successors in office and assigns, a corporation sole, the following: (amount or percentage) to be used at the bishop’s discretion in meeting the needs of God’s people.”
