Faces of Philanthropy Q & A with Randall N. Scott:
Q: What excites you most about the Foundation’s work, and why is giving to the Catholic Foundation meaningful to you?
A: It is my hope and prayer that, through faithful dedication to the CFOCF causes, I will leave a legacy and a testament to the power of love, faith, charity, and selfless service. CFOCF is an institution, and people whose example of grace, trust in the Lord, and commitment to others shine brightly, lighting the way for all of us. They inspire us to walk with faith, to serve with love, and to live with purpose. CFOCF is a wonderful institution that helps me accomplish my faith goals.
Q: Who taught you about giving?
A: When I reflect on the faith and devotion of my parents, family, and friends, I celebrate not only their accomplishments but also the incredible legacy they continue to build through the actions and motivations that have moved me. Their actions reflect the values we hold dear—faith, service, compassion, charity, and love. They are examples of Christ’s love for us all, giving without expectation, helping without hesitation, and loving without limit. I am reminded that when we serve others, we are serving Christ Himself.
Q: What legacy do you hope to leave?
A: I pray that my legacy will reflect the embodiment of grace in all that I do. I live my life rooted in faith, where each day reflects my unwavering commitment to serving others. In my quiet, humble way, I have given, and will continue to give, much of myself without asking for anything in return. I pray that through my hands, heart, and unwavering dedication, I have changed lives, especially in our church community, where my generosity has touched so many.
Q: What’s a Scripture verse or saint that inspires your generosity?
A: I pray that I am answering Christ’s call, giving of myself to serve others in ways that are both visible and unseen. I am reminded of a passage from the Gospel of Matthew, where Jesus teaches us about the importance of serving others. He says, “…whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me…” I hope to live out this teaching in everything I do—through love, service, and commitment to the well-being of others. I am reminded of the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta: “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” That is why I strive to do small things every day with great love, service, and charity for others.
