What is Giving Tuesday?

November 28th is the global annual day of giving – #GivingTuesday. Following Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, this day encourages and celebrates acts of generosity. The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida invites you to participate with us in lifting up your ministry as a charity worthy of support on #CatholicGivingTuesday.

#CatholicGivingTuesday 2023 will focus on how “We are Called” as Catholic ministries. To promote the day and to encourage Catholic giving, we will highlight parishes, schools, ministries, and the good work we are called to do throughout the diocese.  We will encourage donors to follow their Catholic hearts and share their gifts with the ministries in our diocese for which they are grateful. We will provide an online donation option for them at www.catholicgivingtuesday.org to support your ministry. (Donations received will be distributed after the holidays along with a detailed donor report.)

Why we should participate?

“Giving Tuesday” is a gentle way of reinforcing the fabric that weaves together our shared lives, and a humble acknowledgement that not one of us can stand alone. We need each other, just as we need our good God. In Pope Francis’s encyclical, Laudato Si, our Holy Father writes; “Jesus reminded us that we have God as our common Father and that this makes us brothers and sisters….We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it.” Giving Tuesday reinforces this notion…that being good and decent (and generous with what our God has given us) is worth it!

— Fr. Charlie Mitchell, Pastor, Saint Mary Magdalen Parish

U.S. nonprofits raised $2.7 Billion on Giving Tuesday 2022!  Participating in #CatholicGivingTuesday allows you visibility on this global day of giving – and hopefully a piece of those charitable dollars that will be donated on November 28th!

Thank you to the 68 parishes, schools and ministries who participated in last year’s #CatholicGivingTuesday as we celebrate the joy of giving and promote the collective impact of giving on our community. We look forward to partnering with you to raise awareness of the great work you do and to provide donors with the opportunity to support your ministry this Giving Tuesday. If you have any questions, please reach out to Jose R. Sola, Director of Digital Philanthropy & Communications or call (407) 246-4802.

“As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10
