Our Community Services team was honored to conduct a Discipleship Day for Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Palm Bay. The full day event took place on August 19th, and focused on stewardship as a way of life. We were blessed to have about 60 parishioners join, including the parish’s pastor, Father Villaire Philius.
This faith-filled day consisted of five fifty-minute sessions highlighting the following areas of stewardship:
- The Spirituality of Stewardship: We explored our Call to be disciples of Jesus and how it leads us to a stewardship way of life.
- Understanding Our Giftedness: We focused on our belief that all we have are gifts from God. Attendees were encouraged to identify their God-given gifts of time, talent, treasure, testimony, and ties, then focus on ways they could share those gifts with others.
- Planning for Intentional Stewardship: Using Jesus and Mary as the two greatest models of Christian Stewardship, we focused on our shared responsibility to foster the mission of the Church and bring it to its fullness of charity spread throughout the Earth.
- Stewardship of Our Legacy: Charlie Van Patten from our Donor Services team shared ways we can make an impact into perpetuity by planning now for the legacy we want to leave when we pass. He also shared many ways that we can share our values, mission, and financial resources with our families, community, and Church.
- A Call to Action: The participants formulated a roadmap for the pastor to help educate the larger parish community on stewardship and engage with them on their journey.
Each of the five sessions were followed with a stewardship reflection exercise for the participants. The day was filled with inspirational testimony and discussion.
