Faces of Philanthropy: Jeannette Eddy

FoP Team Jeannette Eddy

Jeannette Eddy, CAP

St. James Catholic Church

Director of Philanthropy

I was born and raised in Miami, attended Florda State University for undergrad, and then spent a good chunk of time living in Boston, Massachusetts. While in Boston, I worked at the WGBH Educational Foundation (Boston’s public television and radio station) and helped grow the Planned Giving and Endowment programs for the station. Now, I’m able to help do the same at The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida. Besides spending time with my family and three kids, I enjoy cooking, the arts, lake life and traveling.  Fun fact, I met my husband while on vacation in Egypt!

Faces of Philanthropy Q & A with Jeannette Eddy:

Q: What led you to join the Catholic Foundation team?

A: After working for many different non-profits over the years, with varying missions and purposes, I felt drawn to blend philanthropy with my faith. What better place to do that then at The Catholic Foundation!

Q: If you could tell donors one thing, what would it be?

A: If you’re feeling compelled to do something impactful with the blessings God has given you, listen and follow your heart. You are being called to do great things for a reason and you can fulfill those philanthropic desires in so many ways!

Q: Who inspired your values around charity? What message would you give to someone just beginning their giving journey?

A: My faith has inspired my values around charity. To someone just beginning their journey, know that it’s an evolution that unfolds over time.  Wealth may vary and take different forms, but it remains wealth, nonetheless.  Many of us, including me, are still figuring out our philanthropic purpose, so be patient. Through faith, prayer and reflection, it will be revealed. 1 Timothy 6:17-19  “Tell the rich in the present age not to be proud and not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth but rather on God, who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment. Tell them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, ready to share, thus accumulating as treasure a good foundation for the future, so as to win the life that is true life.”
