The Rockledge Knights of Columbus Council 6125 invited The Catholic Foundation’s Kimberlee Riley and Madelyn Weed to be the keynote speakers at their Annual Awards Dinner and Ceremony on June 30. The duo spoke about the impact of charity on our community and resources the Foundation makes available to assist in transferring our Catholic values to future generations.
That evening Grand Knight Tony Spadafora announced $22,444.44 in donations will be awarded to a dozen nonprofits including St. John the Evangelist, Divine Mercy and St. Mary’s Church and School, as well as organizations serving individuals with disabilities, behavioral health issues and those precariously housed or facing financial instability. The Catholic Foundation was honored to accept a gift for the Council’s support of Emmaus, the new independent living community for retired priests at San Pedro Catholic Retreat Center.
In 2021, The Catholic Foundation was engaged by Knight Bob Duerr to provide guidance to the Council’s special committee as they prepared for the sale of their Rockledge hall building. Our Planned Giving Advisory Council member and CPA, Johnny Svajko, provided his expertise on the tax implications of the sale. Once the sale was finalized, the Council donated a majority of the proceeds to three parishes for capital improvements/funded depreciation, as well as to St. Mary’s School. The remainder of the proceeds will help to supplement the council’s ongoing charity.
Thank you to the Rockledge Knights for the opportunity to be a part of your philanthropic efforts.
