Faces of Philanthropy Q & A with Susan Giacoletto:

Q: Why is planned giving important to you or your clients?

A: While the majority of my clients plan to leave their estate to family or friends, a number of them do make charitable bequests, both large and small, and they appreciate pertinent advice I can offer.

Q: Can you share a simple planned giving tool or strategy more people should know about?

A: If the client plans to make both charitable gifts and gifts to family or friends, utilizing their tax deferred accounts for the charitable gift can make their gift go farther.

Q: Is there a verse, prayer, or principle that informs your view on stewardship or legacy?

A: The late Pope Francis reminded us to be good stewards with our Time, Talent and Treasure.

Q: What do you hope to contribute to the Foundation’s mission?

A: As an attorney I have noticed that my clients who are charitably inclined often times leave bequests to those charities that are exceptionally well known (and do marvelous work) through advertising and fundraising campaigns (St. Judes, Wounded Warriors.) I would hope to help the Foundation strategize on raising awareness in the diocese of the good work the Foundation does and how planned giving can help.
