Walking by Faith
“for we walk by faith, not by sight… Therefore, we aspire to please Him, whether we are at home or away.” 2 Corinthians 5:7,9
The start of a new school year challenges us to face the unknown, especially when we are in an unfamiliar school or classroom. In these times, our faith assures us that everything will work out despite the unknowns. Whether in one of our Catholic schools or a public school, administrators, teachers and students can all rely on their faith to create a fertile and comfortable environment for learning. Our Catholic faith instructs us that when we walk by faith, we are not walking alone, we have the Holy Spirit with us. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are the perfect gifts for going back to school – wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel (right judgement), fortitude (courage), piety (reverence) and fear of the Lord (wonder and awe). We pray for our administrators, teachers, students and parents as they embark on a new school year that they trust in the Lord who makes all things new.
August is also National Make-A-Will Month, which provides us another opportunity to walk by faith, as we consider how we return our blessings to God and steward the next generation and the future of our Church. The Catholic Foundation recognizes that creating your will is a significant aspect of stewardship, enabling you to safeguard what God has entrusted to you and care for your loved ones and ministries you love. We have a variety of resources to assist you. We are blessed to have vetted Catholic estate attorneys on our Planned Giving Advisory Council, many of whom have offered a FREE one-hour consultation for individuals referred by The Catholic Foundation. We understand that not everyone has the same estate planning needs and are also pleased to offer a free online tool, through FreeWill.
There are many beginnings and endings throughout our lives which require us to act and walk by faith, not by sight. Put your faith and trust in God, confident he will always be present and guide us in these moments where we so implicitly live out our faith.
Blessings,
