Tell me about yourself. Where are you from and can you tell me a bit about your background and what brought you to the Foundation?
“I was born and raised in Cuba, in a small fishing village called Cojímar. Despite the many limitations on the island, my childhood remains one of my favorite parts of my life. You could always find me in the water back then; it was, and still is, the place where I felt most happy and peaceful. I migrated to Miami as a teenager and began a new journey full of possibilities. My constant aspiration has always been to help people and make a positive impact on the world. After working in the corporate sector, I realized my soul would be happier working with a non-profit organization. After some research, I found an open position for Community Services Coordinator at a foundation whose values and goals aligned with mine.”
What are your past qualifications that led to this job position?
“I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, which I obtained in 2021. During my time at UCF, I actively engaged in personal and professional growth, serving as Co-Vice President of Alumni Relations. This role introduced me to donor services, sparking my passion for community development. Additionally, I hold certifications in Diversity, Communication, and Critical Thinking through the Global Leadership Program. My previous employment has also provided me with experience in marketing, leadership, visual design, among others.”
What do you hope to gain from this job position?
“I hope to gain insight into how non-profit organizations operate and understand their impact on the community. I aim to develop my professional skills while contributing to the growth and development of the Foundation.”
What has been the biggest challenge so far?
“Managing all marketing sectors across an entire organization has been the most significant professional challenge I’ve faced so far. However, it was also incredibly rewarding and provided me immense growth opportunities.”
Outside of work, what is your life like?
“I’m very family-oriented and love nature in all its forms. I enjoy any outdoor activity, and my favorite pastimes are gardening and spending time with my family, friends, and pets.”
Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
“As a kid, I had many vivid dreams that became real.”
