September 2019 Dear Friends in Christ, Although Hurricane Dorian skirted the Florida coast this month, leaving the Diocese of Orlando relatively unscathed, we recognize that our sisters and brothers in the Bahamas, and parts of the United States (U.S.), were less fortunate. Torrential rains and savage winds shredded the Bahamas, causing an estimated $7 billions worth of damage, generating more than 1.5 billion pounds of rubble, claiming more than 50 lives and leaving more than 1,300 people missing. In the U.S., the storm left thousands without power in the Carolinas. In response, The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida partnered with Bishop John Noonan and generous donors like you to support these communities. The Foundation created an online donation page (www.cfocf.org/2019-disasters-collection/) that has collected more than $50,000 in gifts from nearly 250 generous donors like you who have provided relief to people harmed by Hurricane Dorian. Thank you for being Christ to others during their time of need. God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in distress. Psalms 46:2

Partnering with our Community: Planned Giving Advisory Council Launches

Planned Giving Advisory Council As part of The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida’s strategic plan, a Planned Giving Advisory Council has been established. It includes a group of active-and-talented charitable gift and estate planning professionals dedicated to the mission and vision of The Catholic Foundation. The goal is to support our community in realizing their philanthropic impact through a network of estate and financial planning professionals. The Foundation and Advisory Council members will provide educational and networking opportunities to support Central Florida professionals with incorporating distinct services that will help their clients realize the philanthropic impact they have accomplished through their giving, and to connect them with resources to further their philanthropic journey. The council’s first meeting was Friday, September 27th at St. Margaret Mary in Winter Park.  Kimberlee Riley, the Foundation’s president and CEO, and Janet Caramello, Director of Philanthropic Engagement, recognized the council’s founding members: Garrett Burke (Chair), Rob Thomson (Vice-Chair), Chris Garcia, Kathleen Hagerty, Ty McCormack, Steve Thagard, and Ryan Plank (not pictured). To get on our meeting initiation list, or for more information about The Catholic Foundation of Central Florida’s Planned Giving Advisory Council, please contact Janet Caramello at jcaramello@cfocf.org
