2022 Foundation Board Retreat

Each year our board of directors gather with partners and staff to deepen our faith and continuously improve our governance and programs to better serve our community. This year our board selected San Pedro Development Center for the venue and found the conference and meeting rooms, lodging and food services to be wonderful for us to gather in a spiritual place, grounding our work in our faith. Over the course of the day and half retreat and meetings, Father Ivan Olmo, our spiritual director, guided us on preparing to receive the Eucharist and recognizing the presence of the Lord in our work and lives. The Foundation team members shared pertinent program information and updated the board on the strategic plan…

National Philanthropy Day 2022

National Philanthropy Day is a celebration each November across the U.S. recognizing the profound impact philanthropy has on the fabric of society. It is the compassion and selflessness of local heroes that the Association of Fundraising Professionals is proud to recognize through National Philanthropy Day. The program honors individuals, corporations, foundations, civic and service groups, and nonprofit organizations in Central Florida whose efforts change the face of our community. This year our own President & CEO, Kimberlee Riley, was recognized as a champion for collective philanthropy and was awarded the Terri S. Chastain Award for Outstanding Fundraising Professional. Kimberlee was nominated by Karen Monteleone who served as Vice President for Board Relations at UCF and is also a Board Member…

Transformed By Grace

“For the grace of God has appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age, as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good.”-Titus 2:2-4 It’s a conversion that happens every time we give of ourselves, we are transformed by grace-the grace of God. We are called to that conversion every time we approach the altar at the Eucharist. For some of us the blessed sacrament is…

Magnify – a Ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Orlando

Years ago, Sister Elizabeth Marie Stoup SSJ envisioned a ministry to magnify the abilities of those served and return to God what we receive from Him. Sister Elizabeth recognized that Churches, employers, schools, and other civic and community organizations are transformed when they are ready to welcome the gifts of individuals with disabilities. That vision established Bishop Grady Villas in 2004; a residential community where adults with intellectual disabilities could live as independently as possible while receiving support to be safe and healthy. Since its inception, Bishop Grady Villas has worked diligently to support individuals with disabilities to live independently in their community, develop life skills, and work toward competitive and self-employment opportunities. The ministry primarily serves people with disabilities…

Ethics Awareness Month

This month we celebrate Ethics Awareness Month to highlight the importance of ethics in philanthropy. This initiative has been led by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and is in its fourth year of elevating ethical practices in our communities. AFP was founded in 1960 to create a code of ethics for fundraising professionals and adopted its official Code of Ethical Standards in 1964 helping to foster the development and growth of professionals and enhance philanthropic initiatives. The 25 standards in AFP’s Code address issues such as privacy, stewardship of funds, professional responsibilities and compensation. October is a great time to focus on ethics because it kicks off the ‘giving season’ in the last quarter of the calendar year when…
